Which, come on, is totally a made-up word. Phthalates? What language is that from? Even the newspaper had to put the word in quote marks, which is their way of saying, "We're not really sure this is a real thing." Greenpeace, as I live and breathe, by Grabthar's hammer, by the sons of Warvan, I shall see your offices and ships destroyed. I shall see you crushed and driven before me. I shall hear the cries and lamentations of your women.

The use it as a substitute for the services largely provided by government agencies in other countries.
Sadly 'privatized' bureaucracy is stil bureaucracy. And with less transperancy and accountability to the larger public it tends to sink lower. Even if it often manages to hide those lows better.
You think some socialist government can be malicious? Just imagine if that government was actually full-on motivated......and you have the very worst of the American judicial system. Or sometimes the best depending on which side of the courtroom you happen to be standing out. ;)

Regretfully, I need to be a tard when it comes to phthalates.
They're not very nice. In laymen's terms, some phthalates make phallics go wee wee. Others work on the analogous equipment in women.
But (a very big but), it depends how much of it we are talking about. Common salt is hazardous if you are dealing with train loads of it, but the amount in your salt shaker is innocuous.

My theory is that the Greentards are cynically leveraging their clout (i.e., their ability to yell and scream and have people pay attention to them) in going after Apple. It's not that Apple is really an enemy of the environment; it's that they figure it will be a lot easier to shame Apple into.... Well, what? What do the Greentards want? That iPhone should be made out of 100% recycled packing peanuts and hemp? What?...
They figure that Apple is an easy mark. You think Michael Dell will give them anything but the back of his hand, no matter what? But Apple, with Mr. Nobel Peace Prize on their Board, well, obviously they have an image to maintain. Hence, they are judged more vulnerable to Greentard persuasion.
