Jerry Yang spotted leaving Facebook

Moshe just came in with the info. Our spy cams picked it up. Not sure but this may be Jerry's big bold move. Yahoo puts money into Facebook and blocks Microsoft. Frankly I thought Jerry's big move was just going to be an announcement that he needed another 100-day thinking period. Anyway, you go, Jerry Yang. Put that money into Facebook. Anything to jam a spoke in Beastmaster's wheels. And don't worry. Whatever ridiculous amount you pay, the saps in the open market will be paying more when the bankers finally take this thing public.

Hey Steve-o,

If we buy Facebook or something, do you think Jerry might let me do something with it? See, here in Sunnyvale, I'm The Other Guy. I don't get to do anything! I get to do that Yahoo! Green stuff- yeah, whatever. That means a lot.

He wears black turtlenecks a lot (imagine that- thanks) and acts inscrutable.

What can I do? Can you loan me Moshe?

Not likely. Isn't news corp suppose to be selling myspace to Yahoo in exchange for a stake in the parent. So Zuckface isn't going to get in to bed with space. Though if they do merge they could call the new company FaceSpace.

maybe it's the beastmaster's big fake-out move:

act like he wants facebook.com so that yahoo blows a big wad on it and tanks the share price...

FSJ,
Yahoo! buying! Facebook! makes! some! sense!
I doubt that Yahoo is any position to face up to the beastmaster. Instead, Yahoo might be looking at the fit with Yahoo groups and geocities. Groups is sorta ok, while Geocities slums are the backwaters of the web. I'm sure they would prefer to have both get the uptake that facebook got.
Business case? Beats me. Maybe insert more ads on each page? Yahoo itself certainly can't do another IPO to sucker in big bucks, but if Yahoo groups / geoslums could be rolled into Facebook, and the whole outfiit is put up for IPO, there's a few bucks in it.
The question is why would Facebook bother? Maybe the deal is a reverse sell of Yahoo stuff to facebook. You know, like paying facebook to take groups & slums off of Yahoo's hands.
